Volunteer

We love volunteers! No skills are necessary. We have an ongoing need for extra hands to help maintain the garden, assist in fundraising, organize activities, and staff events. From April through November we host monthly “First Tuesday” and “First Saturday” garden work events to accomplish regular garden maintenance tasks.

DATES FOR 2023:
Earth Month Chores–we will be in the garden every Saturday of April from 10am-noon preparing the garden for students to return.

First Tuesday sessions 4-6pm
2May, 6June, 11July, 1Aug, 5Sept, 3Oct

First Saturday sessions 10am-noon.
6May, 3June, 8July, 5Aug, 2Sept, 7Oct

Closing the Garden–It’s a very large garden so many sessions are required to help ensure the garden is sealed up for winter. Lots of tiny tasks are needed.
4NOV=10am-noon
7-9NOV=3-5pm
11NOV=10am-noon

We may need additional days; groups of at least three people can be scheduled through the end of November.

Parents, students, teachers, friends, and community members are all invited to come lend a hand. Simply show up to one of the scheduled days—bring a friend, a pair of gloves, your favorite water bottle, and sunhat.

NOTE: BPS students completing community service hours may contact Ms. Caesandra at 716-803-5566 or [email protected] to coordinate additional times. You must bring your timesheet.

We are also in need of generous individuals who are able to commit a larger time to the garden effort by leading an activity, event, or a fundraising campaign. This could be a fraternity, sorority, team, local business or social club.

Is your corporation or organization looking for volunteer service sites or service learning opportunities? We gladly host service days where students work alongside community members to complete garden projects.

To find out how your organization can help, or to schedule a group volunteer day, please contact Caesandra Seawell, Garden Manager, at 716-803-5566 or [email protected]
